English Language Learners must meet all graduation requirements including passing the ELA examination.  ELLs who score below Commanding (formerly Proficient) on the NYSITELL or the NYSESLAT are entitled to services until they score Commanding or score Expanding and pass the ELA Regents examination. Parents may select from available programs, including English Only instruction or Transitional Bilingual Education (offered in Arabic, Chinese and Spanish, when available.)  Parent Program Selection Forms must be completed during registration and filed in the World Languages/ENL office.  Parents may request a meeting and change the selection for the next school year.  Students may not withdraw from a mandated ENL program.  All ENL/HLA classes are aligned to the NYS Common Core/Next Generation Standards.
