NYCPS Closed Thursday, June 7, 2024- Emergency Preparedness Simulation
New York City Public Schools (NYCPS), one of our top priorities is to ensure that every student can continue to learn, even during unexpected situations like severe weather or other emergencies that require our schools to pivot to remote learning.
To make sure we’re ready for such an event, we want to ensure that our students and staff are prepared for successful remote learning.
NYCPS will conduct an emergency readiness simulation exercise on the morning of Thursday, June 6, 2024.
June 6 is a scheduled non-attendance day, students will participate in the simulation from home in their 3rd period class. This will allow students to engage online with their teachers just like they would on an actual remote learning day.
Students and teachers will meet via Google Meets. Students will sign into google classroom via TeachHub to access the Google Meet Code during the scheduled time.
Time: 8:45 AM - 9:10AM
This activity is entirely voluntary. However, the more students that participate, the more accurate and useful our emergency readiness simulation will be.
How long will this activity last?
The activity will last for 25 minutes for all grades. We would appreciate it if students can remain on for the duration of the activity. Students will need:
1. A working, internet-enabled device
2. An internet connection
3. Their student email login information.
If your child does not have access to a device, please reach out to your child’s guidance counselor prior to June 6 to request one.
If your child does not know their student email information, they can stop by the library or see the parent coordinator in room 149.
While participation in this remote simulation is voluntary, we hope your child will join us on June 6 to help support our school’s emergency preparedness.
